Being recently re-introduced to comic books by a not to be named boyfriend, I have begun to explore the artists that are in charge of the intricate and awesome illustrations/ colorings that are integral to a succesful comic. Some nay sayers would argue that comic books are not artistic… well I beg to differ. Take Jo Chen for instance. She is talented and I will scream it from the mountain top if I had a mountain near my house and the motivation to climb said mountain.
Jo has illustrated for the likes of the Buffy comics but has also a wide portfolio of her own. Not only does she do pen and ink for the comics, she uses CGI, watercolors, as well as showcases her art in pencil sketches and via video games. Check out her website if you are into this sort of thing or are open to the possibility that comics have something to offer the art world.
